PSA: People’s Climate March 2014

Just in case you haven’t been paying attention to your local enviro-news outlet, one of the most important and influential parades will be taking place in not only New York City, but in Paris, Melbourne, Rio De Janeiro,  London, Berlin and other spots in the world. In NY, hundreds of organizations have assembled between 77th and 81st on Central Park West to protest climate change deniers and demand for progressive action against the environmental threat.  The march will begin roughly at 11:30 am all the way down to 34th street. You can follow FG’s twitter or follow the #peoplesclimate hash tag for up to date info on today’s march.

If you’re in NYC, now’s an excellent time to view the works of Valerie Hegarty in her current exhibit titled “Alternative Histories”. Right at the Brooklyn Museum on the 4th floor, you can view Hegarty’s displays, which portray themes including “colonization, Manifest Destiny, and repressed history.” Hegarty uses a myriad of media to build these metaphorical and organic chaos and decay scenes. This exhibit is available for viewing until December 1st, 2013, but if you can’t make it, or aren’t in the Tri-State area, you can view her online portfolio and her complete bio here.
